Housing, Interior Design, Landscaping, Wedding Planning, and Fashion Design Resources

The sampleboard link has a free 30 day trial and a free version after that.  It is a website that allows you to create designs in the areas of fashion, interiors, weddings, and landscaping. This resource idea was sent to us by Cindy Coan the FACS teacher at Russellville High School.  Thank you Cindy for sharing this resource idea with the other FACS teachers in the State of Alabama.

Qestioning Techiques

Closed or Open: That is the Question is a link that shows a lesson on economic systems and the questioning techniques used are critiqued in order to improve the teachers questioning abilities.  This resource will be great for any FACS teacher who would like to improve or refresh their questioning techniques and student engagement with classroom discussion.  It would also be a great resource for teachers who teach in the Education and Training Cluster to train their students about questioning techniques in the classroom.

Making It Click Assessment with Technology

Using Clickers is a new technology that all FACS teachers could use in their classroom.  It will allow you to know if your students are grasping the technical concepts, before the student begins using them in a laboratory or taking a test on the concepts you would like for them to know.  It could also be used to prepare your students for credentialing.

Fashion Games

Fashion Games is a Web site where you will find game students may use to do makeovers, hair styles, go shopping, manicures, and many many other fun things in the fashion industry.  However you may need to get your IT person in your school system to open up the sites you would like for the students to use.

Choose MyPlate SuperTracker allows you to create your own profile and develop your own personal goals for maintaining your weight, diet, and fitness.  You will be able to keep up with how many calories you are taking in each day and how many you are burning.

Using Children's Books to Practice Literacy Skills is a short video about teaching students how to read critically to analyze the text, dig deeper into the text, and to gain confidence when learning a skill.  It is designed for high school students grades 9-12, but Education and Trainging teachers could use it with their classes to help their students to develop a better understanding on how to teach literacy to others.

This site http://www.fiftysneakers.com/  is one for all FACS teachers.  It allows you to create, store, and deliver worksheets, exam, and quizzes as printable documents or online tests.  It has a free use plan, but the better plans have a price range from $5.99 - $14.99 per month.

Educational Word Games

Education and Training Cluster Teachers, this is another site that you may allow your students to use as a resource when planning lessons.  Kids Games is a free online word games site for kids to play free word games.  The following is a link to the site.  wordfreegames.com

Use Quizinator as a Resource

AACTE Summer Conference Announcement

AACTE Summer Conference registration deadline is April 1, 2012.  Registration fees are $100.00 for AACTE members , $300.00 for non-members, $50.00 for stundents, and $300.00 for Spouse/Guest.  Be sure to get your registration in on time.  On April 2, 2012, resgistration fees will increase to $200.00 for AACTE members, $400.00 for non-members, $100.00 for students, and $400.00 for Spouse/Guest.  Onsite registration for all persons (AACTE Members, non-members, or guest) registering after May 1 will pay $500.00 with no exceptions.

To register send check or money order payable to Alabama ACTE-CTE Conference.  Purchase Orders and Credit Cards will not be accepted. Registation fees are non-refundable.

Note: Checks and money order payments not made payable to Alabama ACTE-CTE conference will be returned to sender.  The conference registration fee for any returned checks/money orders after the registration deadline will be $500.00. No Exceptions.

Classroom Resources

It contains great resources for all FACS Clusters.  Using the left hand column, click on the subject you would like to view.  It will take you to those courses.  Scroll down the page until you see the word resources.  Under the word resources, there will be various types of resources.  Click on the resource that interest you and download the document to your computer.  Some are PowerPoint presentations that would be great additions to your classroom instruction.
